Follow these steps to get an API key and add restrictions:
1. Sign into your Google account
2. Go to the Google Cloud Platform Console - https://console.cloud.google.com/
3. From the Project drop-down menu (top blue bar), select or create the project for which you want to add an API key.
- Just enter project name and click the CREATE button
4. From the Project drop-down menu (top blue bar), select the project that youjust created
5. Click on APIs & Services from the left menu
6. Click on + ENABLE APIS AND SERVICES (positioned just below the top blue bar)
7. Select "Maps JavaScript API"
8. Now click ENABLE
9. Now click on the "Credentials" link (positioned below the top blue bar)
10. CLick on "Create credentials" and select "API key"
11. At this stage you can set restrictions if you would like to. If you decide you would like to restrict the API so it can only be used by your website then select HTTP referrers (websites) and enter your domain name here in the format of
https://*yourdomain.com/*
12. Please copy and paste the API into an email and send it to me
